The iMac G4 or as it was more affectionately known, "iLamp" was a major step in industrial design. Although many remember it most for its flat screen and hemisphere shaped CPU, it was the arm that figuratively and literally brought those two components together. That single piece of engineering enabled a user to position the screen at almost an angle with very little effort. The arm had to be strong enough to hold the weight of an LCD screen, yet provide little resistance to a hand articulating it.
