Why can’t I use maximum load or speed on all programs on washing machine, tumble dryer or washer dryer
Washing Machines, Tumble Dryers and Washer Dryers
To get the best result and to keep your clothes in the best possible condition different fabrics need different temperatures and spin speeds.
Also, some wash cycles will operate best with a smaller load.
When tumble drying clothes, different fabrics need different temperatures to ensure your clothes are dried correctly and look and feel their best. Also, when tumble drying, different fabric types should be tumble dried with smaller loads.
Here are some of the Washing and Drying recommendations.
This symbol means the garment can be washed on the cotton cycle at a maximum temperature of 60°, you can also lower the wash temperature on this wash cycle.
Cottons wash is great for cotton bed linen and towels as it gives a wash with high agitation with high spin speeds.
Cottons wash will allow you to wash the maximum load capacity (8kg – 10kg depending on your model) and you can vary the wash temperature from the hottest temperature available on the washing machine to the coldest (but always refer to the temperature guideline on the care tag of the garment).
Cotton wash will also allow you to select the highest spin available on the washing machine, the spin speed can also be reduced if needed.
The cottons wash symbol also can have other temperature recommendations on the care symbol of the garment (see below), this will be the hottest temperature that this garment can be washed at, but of course you can wash them at a cooler temperature if needed, if for example the clothes have not been worn too often and do not need a hot wash.
If this symbol is on your garment, it should be washed on a Synthetic cycle, this cycle is best for items such as acrylic blended jumper or polyester sportswear (always refer to the care symbol on the garment).
Synthetics wash will offer a medium agitation and a lower spin speed and the maximum load capacity on this wash will be lower than the cottons wash, this is to ensure that the garments will be washed correctly and look and feel their best after they have been washed.
The maximum capacity on a Synthetic wash will generally be between 3kg and 4kg depending on your model (check the instruction manual of your machine).
if this symbol is on your garment, it should be washed on a delicate wash. This is a low agitation wash with a lower spin speed and is suitable for delicate items with this care symbol.
The maximum load capacity on a delicate wash is lower than Synthetics or Cottons and this is to ensure that your delicate items are cared for and the best fabric care result is achieved for your delicate clothes.
The maximum capacity on a Delicate wash will generally be between 3kg and 4kg depending on your model (check the instruction manual of your machine)
Quick Wash Option:
your washing machine or washer dryer may have a Quick Wash program of 20- or 30-minute duration.
This is for a small amount of Cotton or Synthetic clothes that are lightly soiled or worn once. It is a very quick program at 30°, as this wash cycle is completed very quicky is it recommended to put in a small load (generally 3kg) to ensure the best result for your clothes.
When using your Tumble Dryer or Washer Dryer on the Drying Cycle different programs will allow for different amounts of clothes to be dried.
Cottons Drying Program will allow you to tumble dry the maximum amount of laundry that the machine can accommodate.
Synthetics, Delicate, Bed Linen and other programs will allow you to tumble dry smaller loads, this is to ensure that those fabrics are tumble dried correctly and that the warm air can move easily through those fabrics during the drying cycle.
These cycles will operate at different temperatures (depending on the drying cycle selected).
Your instruction manual will indicate the maximum amount of laundry that each cycle can tumble dry (for example it may be 8kg for Cottons and 3kg for Synthetics – depending on the model)
It may be helpful to know that 1kg = approximately 5 shirts.
The care symbol on your garment will indicate if it can be tumble dried, some drying care symbols are:
Tumble dry on any heat.
Tumble Dry on High Heat.
Tumble dry on low heat
Do not tumble dry.
