“This vacuum is excellent! my partner calls out from the hall. I can’t hear you, I replied, I’m in the shower, come closer!”“This vacuum is brilliant he says standing in the doorway”, and it is. I tell you why. First, it looks handsome in its sleek and stylishly modern silver/grey finish, neutral enough to fit well with our homely apartment, but I can imagine will look equally good in a modern city pad. My husband’s response, I suspect, has more to do with its nifty manoeuvring. Our old vacuum was a round drum type with suction so powerful that it lifted the rugs which made vacuuming a much more tedious task. The CX7 Cordless has two settings for suction, and even on the higher setting it transitions effortlessly from wooden floor to carpet onto tile and back onto carpet with just the right amount of suction to cut out the drama of having to hold the rug down with your foot every time you move the vacuum over. It has a really useful light at the base of the vacuum that my husband says reminds him of KITT from the Knight Rider series, but is really useful for those dark areas under the dining table, study desk etc. Our CX7 can also detach from the main vacuum frame, so I can now remove the sofa cushions and go right into the seams where dust usually collects without the schlep of my old vacuum. The detachable part holds the dust collector which is transparent so you can see when it is full, and when it is, simply hold and press both sides at the tip to empty. The whole design is thoughtful. It does what you want from a vacuum. It generates good suction, take up little space (we keep it in our tiny scullery), and makes very little noise. Although the best feature for me is how easy it handles. My drum vacuum involved a lot of pulling and banging against my furniture, whilst this this model steers with the sharp precision of a cut from a Zorro knife. For me, what makes a good product really great is its ability to make your life easier, and this is exactly what this vacuum does. I love it.
