Installation is much easier than the manual suggests, if you can change a light switch then wiring this shouldn’t be a problem. The hob takes all of a 32A cooker circuit though. Cut the hole in the work surface exactly the size in the manual and the hob drops in perfectly, there is a seal that keeps water or debris out, sitting snugly onto the work surface.
The design is beautiful, the bevelled edges make it both attractive and safe from damage.
Pans need to be suitable for Induction jobs, if a fridge magnet sticks to their bottom, they should work okay. The heating zones are 24cm wide so larger pans will not heat to the edges, though my 28cm frying pan does work well in that food can be kept hot at the edge while food taking longer to cook is in the central area. Two zones can be bridged to take a rectangular pan of about 24 x 48cm, both zones being controlled as a single zone.
It took me a little while to adapt as the hob is extremely fast to both heat up and cool down so no need to anticipate when turning the heat down, it happens instantly. Liquids heat up very quickly, don’t be tempted to do something else while waiting liquids to come to the boil. I found reducing heat to a simmer was done in two stages, high 14 down to 10, then around 5, this holds a perfect simmer. There is a Boost function to rapidly heat large pans of water, I found there is no need to use this function as the high 14 setting is extremely fast. I boil water in the kettle fist then the pan instantly returns to the boil.
The hob doesn’t get hot itself, though the heat from the pan does warm it up. It gets as hot as a kettle but cools down as fast. The hob has a ‘ residual’ heat indicator, three bars and the zone is about as hot as a boiled kettle, two it’s quite warm but comfortable to touch, one bar and it’s just mildly warm. It takes just a minute to cool from hot to warm. A child or cat wouldn’t be injured by touching the hob even when hot.
The hob can be wiped easily when liquids are spilled, they don’t burn on. Just use a soft cloth with soapy water and buff with kitchen paper.
Pans do cook food differently, liquids don’t tend to burn on the bottom and food cooks through more evenly. Pans can be washed with warm soapy water than with abrasives and don’t need to go through the dish washer every time.
Overall, this hob is very attractive, easy to install, very fast and responsive, clean and safe in use. I would recommend this hob to anyone.
