Really Crap Manual/Cannot Tell When an Oven is OFF/Very Disappointed

by SteveW on 11 January 2019

Limited use so far but can confirm the ovens are very good. HOWEVER, this product is TOTALLY let down by a really awful user interface. Ones drives just one oven at a time through a very limiting letter box style interface. One has to interrogate it to check what the other oven is doing. At the price would expect to see what BOTH ovens are doing ALL the time. Once running the kitchen clock function disappears, have had to source a second kitchen clock. The multiple oven functions don't also include a defined OFF. As the limited display shows a function and set temperature I have to interpret that an oven is actually off by monitoring clues in the interface. The manual provides no clues and the customer help description didn't tally with the oven functions. Did I say the manual was beyond POOR. I constantly worry that I've left one oven on while the other continues, WASTEFUL! The only definitive way of knowing an oven is OFF is to turn the whole thing OFF. I am really not impressed with this and would rate this product as NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE based wholly on the poor user interface. The grill function is ridiculous, the SINGLE SUPPLIED DUAL FUNCTION GRILL PAN/ROASTING PAN does not also include a HANDLE. A grill pan without a handle! How dangerous it that? The Web registration pages also promised me a free gift (was hoping for a free replacement (different) oven). However, no list of free gifts were included. Perhaps the most incompetent feature of the oven (apart from no defined OFF display, rubbish manual, no grill pan handle) being the product label stuck on upside down making it UNREADABLE. I had to take a photo. The oven includes a label advertising a free extended warranty but it seems this isn't provided through the web registration (or my free my gift). Seems I am required to sit on my phone no doubt in queue. So, what could have been a cracking oven is rendered very difficult to use by a very poor interface that seems to start whatever default function is selected in 5 seconds while referring to the manual. Basically it'll start automatically on a function if the user is in anyway timid or while the user is checking the manual. Really NOT suited to older non-tech savvy people. Product should include a warning about this. (this may contain typos).

Efficient oven with some design niggles

by Joan on 04 January 2019

Bought this oven just before Christmas when my existing much loved Neff was judderring to its end. Christmas has given my new oven a major work out. Pros Nice even cooking on fan. Cooked three trays of mince pies in main oven and one in top they all baked very evenly. I was worried about using the grill in the Top oven because my installer told me to only use the lowest shelf position for this, but this was not in fact a problem. Grill worked well and temperatures are in fact a high range than my old oven. This was the only oven on the market with a fan function in the top oven, with the top oven being a decent size to use as a small oven, not just a grill. This was the deciding factor in my purchase after extensive research of other brand Like the overall look of the oven, Cons I will repeat what many other reviewers have said, the manual is abysmal. I was lucky, I bought my oven from a local kitchen installer who was an AEG partner and he was able to give me pretty helpful instructions and advice . Please AEG do something about the manual. Don’t like the design of the shelves, although they have no fiddly bits and are easy to clean, the curved raised edge makes it difficult to manoeuvre flat baking trays off the shelves when your hands are encased in thick oven gloves. I nearly dropped one of my trays of mince Pies! I found this particularly difficult as my previous oven was about three inches wider on the interior than my new one.. the width size does make a difference when manoevering trays and dishes in the oven. I have found it difficult to adjust to a smaller main oven, mainly organising big meals, but as my family has now reduced to just two of us on a regular basis instead of six this is something I will adjust to. The top oven is a useful size and I expect I will use this more. On the whole I do like my new oven and find it efficient
