This machine was an insurance replacement for my 11 year old AEG L16850 washer-dryer that finally failed. It’s a good machine and washes/dries a much larger load than my previous machine, however, it doesn’t include a few programmes that I really miss from my old machine. I get that the programmes on this machine are meant to be more economical, but what I really miss are the handy quick programmes. I loved the Quick Wash 20 minute 3KG 30 degree programme and the 30 minute 30 degree Silk programme for those times when you just need to freshen up a few items, without having to do an hour+ long wash. Removing these two programme options was a big mistake. This machine also doesn’t have a Rinse Hold option, for those times when you put a wash on before going out, but get delayed in returning home. It used to keep the final fabric conditioner/rinse water intermittently turning round in the machine to avoid it creasing, then when you did return home, you could set it to Spin at whatever speed you wanted to; very handy. I thought the ‘No Spin’ option was a different name for Rinse Hold, but it isn’t. This model does have a separate Spin/Drain programme, which I feel is absolutely essential, but a lot of the new AEG models don’t have this option - why? As I mentioned before, all the programmes on this machine are soo long. There is a Time Saving touch button (Quick) which reduces the washing time twice by approx. 30 minutes each time, depending which programme you’re using, but it still takes a long time and the 10KG Cottons Eco programme is an insanely long 3 hours and 23 minutes - who would ever use this? The Control Panel is pretty easy to get your head around and this machine is very quiet when washing, but is fairly noisy but bearable when spinning. I’ve not tried the 60 minute all-in-one wash & dry programme yet, as I like to straighten out my washing after it’s spun, before tumble drying only some of the items, so I can’t see me using this programme, except for maybe towels. I’ve also not tried out the Steam programme yet, as I’ve only had this machine for 2 weeks. The two extra rinse options are a good idea. The detergent dispenser drawer is a little flimsy, but it’s ok and there’s a ‘flap’ setting for either liquid/powder detergents within it. The machine was pretty easy for me and my husband to install (Covid doorstep delivery), but for the price this machine costs, I expected more flexible programme options. I still miss my old machine.
