Purchased as happy with last AEG used for 20 years but no independent grill pan and detachable handle as previous model. Independent timer required if cooking necessitates intervention to baste/turn food as inbuilt timer useful for uninterrupted cooking only

Hello Shazza71. Thank you for writing your thoughts on your new AEG oven. Regarding the grill pan handle, this is a feature that has been removed by many manufacturers due to a closed door grilling design. As all AEG ovens require the oven doors to be closed when in use, the grill pan handles sticking out from the cavity stops the door being closed and having to detach two handles-due to the grill pan size-may discourage users to detach them during cooking. The door being open during use may cause tarnishing of surrounding oven housing. Closed door operation is mentioned on page 6 of the instruction manual. Regarding the timer, there is a minute minder option where you can set an alarm for specific times as a reminder to baste. You can also set a time duration or simply an end time and the oven will switch itself off. Don't worry about turning food in an AEG oven either, it has SurroundCook fan technology which will give you an even cook on any shelf position. Thank you again for your review.
