A typical washing machine lasts between 7 and 15 years. However lifespan depends on multiple factors like usage frequency, maintenance, and water quality. Regular cleaning, avoiding overloading, and using the correct settings can help extend the life of the appliance and can have the biggest impact.
Washers should be cleaned monthly or every 30 cycles. This includes running a hot wash with cleaner that is designed for the machine, wiping the gasket and drum interior, cleaning the detergent drawer, and clearing the filter every 4–6 weeks. Frequent use or musty odors requires more frequent cleaning. A Top tip would be to leave the drawer slightly open after use to help dry out and avoid mould growth, similarly with the door to allow the drum to dry prevents smell and bacteria.
In the UK it is uncommon but every common in Europe but they do have different regulation. It is possible as long as it complies with wiring regulations, but would also need to be careful for the high humidity.
