Cleaning AEG hob with extractor

Cleaning AEG hob with extractor

A hob with extractor fan must be cleaned regularly to maintain the optimal functioning of the hob and extractor fan.

Regularly removing grease, dirt and odours that have accumulated during cooking will keep the air in your kitchen fresh for longer and ensure healthy air quality during cooking. In addition, regular cleaning helps prevent bacteria and mould formation, which improves the overall hygiene in the kitchen.

In addition, regular maintenance contributes to the durability of both the hob and the extractor, which benefits long-term performance.

Cleaning the inside of a hob with extractor fan

Cleaning a hob with extractor can be done in several ways, depending on the type of extractor and the materials of the hob. For an induction hob with integrated extractor, it is smart to clean the grease filter monthly, or when the system indicates that it is full. This ensures that the extractor unit continues to work properly.

Some extractor hobs allow the grease filters and grids to be cleaned in the dishwasher. To clean the rest of the extractor hood and hob, you can make a soapy solution of baking soda, a drop of dishwashing liquid and hot water. That way you keep everything nice and clean and fresh!

When cleaning the casing of a hob with extractor, it is important to be careful not to use aggressive, scratching or chlorinated products. Also make sure that the hob has cooled down properly before you start cleaning.

The hob can be made of different materials:

  • Stainless steel: clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent.
  • Glass: Use a soft cloth and glass cleaner to clean the glass parts.
  • Painted parts: clean these with a damp cloth and mild detergent.

Cleaning AEG ComboHob filters

The AEG induction hob with recirculation extraction uses two integrated filter systems: a grease filter and a carbon filter. Proper maintenance of both the grease filter and the carbon filter is important, because this is how your induction hob with extraction continues to perform at its best.

Cleaning the ComboHob grease filter

The new AEG ComboHob models have two separate odour and grease filters. To keep the grease filter clean, it is advisable to regularly put it in the dishwasher. How often you should do this depends on how intensively you cook. If you cook on the hob (almost) daily, it is best to do this every week.

Has a lot of fat been released during cooking? For the best result, you can put the filter in the dishwasher immediately after cooking. Do not use dishwasher tablets for this, just warm water is sufficient.

Cleaning the ComboHob Carbon Filter

The ComboHob is equipped with a carbon filter, which you can remove several times for cleaning. Depending on the intensity with which you use the hob, it is best to do this every 2-3 months.

The carbon filter of a hob with extractor is responsible for removing odours, smoke, gases and chemicals that are released during cooking. By cleaning it regularly, you ensure that you maintain a fresh and healthy cooking environment. Every 10 to 20 hours of use should often be enough.

You can clean the AEG ComboHob carbon filter by washing it in the dishwasher (at a maximum of 65-70 degrees, with a program of longer than 90 minutes) or by rinsing it by hand. Use a soft sponge without detergent, only warm water is enough.

Then dry the filters in the oven: 20-30 minutes at 70 degrees. Place the filters in the middle of the oven on function top/bottom heat. Only put the holder with filters back when they are completely dry.

Tip: When cleaning, remember to check carefully how the filters are positioned in the appliance so that you know how to replace them correctly.
