The Energy Saving Switch
With energy use being scrutinised more than ever before, we commissioned a study of 2000 Brits to shed light on how people across the UK are looking to reduce consumption.
Energy Saving Tips From AEG
Expert energy saving tips from AEG's Michael Forbes:
-
1Choose Eco
Whether using your washing machine, tumble dryer or dishwasher, maximise efficiency by always choosing the Eco feature.
These are typically longer than the average cycle, so while it may seem counter effective to leave your wash on for longer, it is the most energy efficient option.
Shorter wash and increased intensity cycles require more energy to get the job done quicker, which is what Eco removes.

2Dishwasher Habits
To reduce water usage & energy, ensure you're making the most out of using your dishwasher:
1. Make sure your dishwasher is full, but not overfilled, and well stacked.
2. Make sure that your glasses don't touch one another.
3. Ensure cups, glasses and pots are placed with their openings downwards.
4. There is no need to waste water by rinsing your plate beforehand! Simply scrape any residue into the food waste prior to stacking.
-
3Stay Cool
Cooler settings on your washing machine are cheaper to run because the cooler the wash, the less energy needed to heat the water.
Running a wash on as low as 30 degrees will not only save you money but leave your clothes feeling equally fresh all while preserving fabrics for clothes to last longer.

4Help Fridge & Freezer
Batch cooking is a great way to save time and money, but did you know you should wait until your food is cold before putting it in the fridge or freezer?
Putting hot food into a cold appliance uses more energy, and therefore costs more. Also, placing food in the centre of the fridge shelf helps keep everything tasting fresher for longer.
