Chocolate Orange Croissant Pudding
A gooey, delicious, easy pudding recipe by Jane's Patisserie. The perfect sweet treat to make over the festive season.
Serves 5-6. Best served fresh.
Ingredients
- 400g/8 stale croissants - or other stale breads
- 150g chocolate orange chunks
- 300 ml double cream
- 300 ml whole milk
- 4 medium eggs
- 50 g light brown sugar
- Zest of 1 orange
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
- (Optional extra - 50ml cointreau)
Method
- Preheat the oven to 180ºc/160ºc fan and grab a medium sized baking dish.
- Slice the stale croissants in half, and then stuff with pieces of orange flavoured chocolate.
- Place into a baking tray.
- In a bowl, add the cream, milk, eggs, sugar, orange zest and vanilla and whisk together until smooth.
- Pour over the croissants.
- Sprinkle over some extra chocolate if you want (50g extra or so) and either leave the custard to soak in for 30 minutes, or bake straight away.
- Another optional extra is to sprinkle 25g of brown sugar on top for a caramelised finish.
- Bake in the oven for 30-35 minutes.
- Serve warm with a drizzle of cream or custard, or as it is.
